The elementary mascot is the Stars so we had to take a picture before they went in. It is 1.9 miles to the Ele. If we were 2 they would bus- so they get to get driven and picked up by yours truly. Some day we may try bikes but I think that's a little far for Brenner right now.
Berk put his backpack in his locker and found his desk.
Brenner sits next to a sweet girl from
Church and was excited to put his lunch in the hall and backpack in his locker too.
He settled into his desk and made it easy for us to leave quickly and without tears. Our only concern was for the gigantic mosquito bit he got on his neck as we walked in. But it seems to be ok and wasn't bothering him a ton.
I post this to show how much of an emphasis they put on school zone speed limits here. Signs on the freeways warned that school was starting, there's a 200$ fine for being on your cell phone in a school zone and on the first day they had firemen and police officers at the beginning of the school zones waving at the kids.
Boston and I ran errands and colored while the boys were gone.
Rusty came home early and drove to pick the middles up with me. The system they have for pick up involves a numbered car tag. Basically you line up, they walkie talkie into the cafeteria and say the number then the kid(s) who have that number are escorted out to the car. Seems like an odd system. And once they have it down maybe we won't wait 20 minutes for the first kid to come out!!
It's over an hour after the boys get home that Braden gets dropped off. The bus stop is a few houses down, which is great. The bus was almost 30 minutes late today and I was stressing until I called the school and they said it was to be expected.
The boys had a great first day. Thank heavens. After we made dinner we decided we needed a treat to celebrate so we headed to Bahama Bucks. It's not very far from us and definitely reminds us of home. Hoping day two goes as smoothly!

Already put one comment, it isn't showing, so once again... good work, sweet girl. Keep it up! Love all these pics of your family that we miss so much.
